Whe ther ultra-compact or tablet-based, high-end smartphones feature the latest technology and performance. Here are the top 10 according to the tests I have already done.
Samsung ubiquitous. The Korean manufacturer trusteed this ranking with no less than four models out of the ten tested. The rest goes to Apple (only other manufacturer to have more than one model in contention), HTC, Huawei and Sony. The main reason for this dominance comes in particular from the excellent performance of Samsung in the field of autonomy.
The latter is very well rewarded by our model of analysis: a good smartphone must be able to be used without having to recharge it before the end of the day or even the following day. It is also this specific point of autonomy that puts the iPhone down, ranked at the bottom of the table despite the very good performances of Apple's smartphone.
Why buy a smartphone?
We find on the market of smartphones low cost, less than 200 euros, with performance constantly improved and compatible 4G. Why then pay triple or even more for high-end? Simply because the flagship models are distinguished both by a sophisticated design, often ultra-thin with larger screens and better quality, but also by a true versatility. Very powerful, they show themselves notably performing in 3D game, in photo and video.
State-of-the-art equipment, latest technology
The high-end smartphones benefit from the latest technological advances and a recent version of the system that animates them, even the latest, whether Android or iOS. Their batteries are generally of high capacity giving the mobile endurance beyond the day. The processors chosen by the manufacturers are among the most recent and, in photo, the number of megapixels flies while the new functions bloom. With this high-end model, Sony is back in this top 10. The Japanese manufacturer offers a smartphone very elegant, well finished, powerful and equipped with a beautiful screen. It remains on the other hand back on versatile autonomy and photography, a mystery when one knows the skills of the brand in the field. Sony must therefore continue to work a little bit to catch up with increasingly aggressive competition.

- Apple iPhone 7
2016 is a good vintage for the iPhone, but between caution and updated calculations, Apple does not break our expectations. It ensures what is needed, where it is needed. The arrival of a powerful and energy-efficient four-core chip, the new home touch button and the disappearing port jack are however proof that the iPhone evolves and works towards the future, even when its design remains unchanged.
